Poetry goes public: New Formats – Old Customs
Lection & Talk
With Crispin Best (poet, UK), Matilde Campilho (poet, Portugal), Annika Henderson (musician, UK), Karl Holmqvist (visual artist, Sweden), Hanne Lippard (visual artist, Norway)
Moderation: Ricardo Domeneck (poet, Brazil & Germany)
In Gutenberg’s galaxy, the text was fixed on paper in front of the reader. But how is poetry presented to the public in the digital age? Today’s technical possibilities are a matter of course for the poets invited for this event. They experiment with sonic and visual elements. Their text-based art is located in the Internet, open for interactivity with other users. The classic medium of the printed book takes a rear seat while speaking to the audience is enjoying a renaissance. Oral traditions in a new form – is this what the future of poetry looks like? The listening audience will be treated to text art in the film by Karl Holmqvist, video and reading by Matilde Campilho, texts by Internet poet Crispin Best and a reading performance by Hanne Lippard. Annika Henderson, known in the electronic music scene as Anika, will perform her sound-text collages.
Event in German and English.
